Engine details: I kept the original engine in the car for a couple years but was burning oil so I pulled it out and temporarily installed a rebuilt hp350 intended for another family project that had been suspended. The original L75 is painted, bagged, and on an engine stand in the garage.
Other details: When I purchased the car I was stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, SC and was leaving for an assignment in South Korea approximately one month later. My Dad coordinated the Orlando, Florida sale and delivered the car to me.

Car history:
My car was originally delivered to Nielsen Chevrolet in Harvey, IL. The only information I've been able to find out about the previous history is that several years ago in response to my request on the NCRS site, a gentleman who was the shop manager at that dealership remembered selling a new Corvette like mine to a customer who had a big dog who frequently rode around in the car with the top down (weather permitting). He didn't know for sure that it was the same car but as they only sold three 1963 red convertibles, it is a good chance it might be. When I bought the car in 1985, the previous owner registered it in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1982 and had wrecked it sometime before I found it in March 1985. The front end was heavily damaged but hadn't been rolled and still had a clear title following an insurance settlement with the owner. After my return from my Korean assignment, I was reassigned to a Florida Panhandle base so I towed the car back to the car's previously registered state to begin a three year restoration project. Although it turned out as a nice driver, even in the 80's these cars were just considered used cars and generally not brought to the level of attentiveness that we all enjoy seeing now. Mechanically, this little convertible is in excellent condition and hopefully within the next couple years the 30+ year old riverside red will get a freshening to match...
